VV27 launch successful: Vega-C places MicroCarb and the CO3D Constellation into orbit
On 25 July 2025, at 11:03 p.m. (French Guiana time), the Vega-C launcher successfully lifted off from Europe’s spaceport, carrying on board the French space agency’s MicroCarb satellite and Airbus Defence and Space’s four CO3D constellation satellites. All were successfully injected into their sun-synchronous orbits.
Europe’s spaceport once again witnessed a major space success with the launch of the VV27 mission, carried out by the European Vega-C launcher operated by Arianespace.
On board were five satellites with ambitious objectives:
MicroCarb, the first French satellite entirely dedicated to measuring atmospheric carbon dioxide,
And CO3D, a constellation of four optical satellites designed to produce a 3D digital model of the Earth’s surface.
With VV27, Vega-C confirms its ability to fulfil dual missions, combining high technology, orbital performance, and commitment to the planet.
