As part of its drive to open up Europe's spaceport to new operators, the French space agency launched a call for applications at the end of last year to accommodate mini- and micro-launchers at Europe’s spaceport.
As a result, seven winners were short-listed from across Europe, including two from France:
- AVIO SPA (Italy);
- HyImpulse Technologies GmbH (Germany);
- ISAR Aerospace (Germany);
- MaiaSpace (France);
- Payload Aerospace (Spain);
- Rocket Factory (Germany);
- Latitude (formerly Venture Orbital Systems, France).
Other operators may be short-listed in a subsequent call for applications, depending in particular on the launch capacity identified at Europe’s spaceport.
Receiving these new commercial operators is part of the transformation under way at Europe's spaceport and demonstrates its strong appeal.
The French space agency has selected the Diamant site to accommodate these new mini- and micro-launchers. Its facilities will comprise common resources (access road, power supply, etc.) that can be used for several launchers, as well as resources specific to each launcher (launch platform, assembly building, etc.).
