[Event] Space Festival at Europe’s spaceport
Europe’s spaceport is organising its very first Space Festival. Celebrated worldwide, it will take place from 13 to 15 October in French Guiana. There’s plenty on the programme to keep you entertained and amazed!
Come and celebrate Space at Europe’s spaceport from 13 to 15 October 2023!
The festivities will kick off on the evening of Friday 13 October from 6 pm: inauguration with a sound and light show on the Ariane 5 model and screening of documentary films in the Jupiter room.
From 10 am onwards, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October will be punctuated by events organised by the spaceport’s companies in the Jupiter Hall, planetarium sessions in the Jupiter Hall, scientific activities at the aeroclub and in the leisure area at Europe’s spaceport, on-site competitions with prizes to be won, a football tournament, demonstrations of military and firefighting equipment and inflatables for younger visitors.
You can also witness the solar eclipse with your family and friends on Saturday 14 October from 2.30 pm, live from Europe’s spaceport. Observation glasses will be provided.
During the three-day festivities, a catering area will be available where you can purchase food.
Free admission. No registration or booking is necessary.
Times:
Friday 13 October: 6 pm - 9 pm
Saturday 14 October: 10 am - 9 pm
Sunday 15 October:10 am - 9 pm
Daytime events
The following events will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm:
- exhibition stand where you can meet the spaceport’s companies in the Jupiter Hall
- scientific activities (creation of micro-rockets with motors, water rockets, etc.) in the aeroclub area and the leisure area at Europe’s spaceport
- space-themed make-up workshop
- games and competitions with prizes to be won (more information on site)
- football tournaments on the field in the leisure area at Europe’s spaceport
- exhibitions and tours of military vehicles (such as the Fennec, an aircraft used by the French Air Force in French Guiana) and the emergency vehicles of the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP)
- inflatables for the little ones and plenty of other surprises!
It’s show time in the Jupiter room
Enjoy two documentary films on Friday, Saturday and Sunday:
- at 6 pm, “Le Robot du Cinéma” (duration: 50 min)
- at 8 pm, “L’Alien du Cinéma” (duration: 50 min).
Sound and light show
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, gather in front of the Ariane 5 model at dusk for a screening on the model and a live show.
- First screening starts at 7.30 pm
- Second screening starts at 8.30 pm
Night sky observation
On Saturday and Sunday, watch the sky live on giant screens:
- First observation session at 8 pm
- Second observation session at 9 pm
Free shuttles
Free shuttles will be available on 14 and 15 October.
Departures to Europe’s spaceport will be from Cayenne, Matoury, Roura, Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, Mana, Sinnamary/Iracoubo and Kourou.
