The Guiana Space Centre is Europe’s only launch base and is the site from which the Ariane and Vega launchers lift off. It is the hub in French Guiana where international players come together to address major strategic issues, and from which satellites of operators from all over the world are launched for space applications which are essential for everyday life.

History of the Guiana Space Centre

Founded in 1964, the Guiana Space Centre has been the site of hundreds of launches. From sounding rockets to French and then European launchers, the GSC has supported the development of European space technology.
