Pariacabo harbour
Pariacabo harbour, located on the Kourou river in the immediate vicinity of Europe’s spaceport, is primarily intended for transporting freight destined for the site : components of launch vehicles or satellites.
The Grand Port Maritime de le Guyane (GPM-Guyane), owner of the wharfs and the maritime domain of Pariacabo harbour in Kourou, has entrusted its operation to the CNES (French space agency) under a concession contract with a public service obligation.
Equipped with a wharf 100 metres long and 20 metres wide, it can accommodate cargo ships from Europe carrying launch vehicle components and certain satellites.
It is now home to the ultra-modern vertical-wing cargo ship, the Canopée, a hybrid vessel specially designed to transport the huge components of the Ariane 6 launch vehicle from the manufacturing plants in Europe to Kourou. From the harbour, the components are subsequently transported by road to the launch preparation complexes.

The Canopée docked at Pariacabo harbour, in Kourou.
