[Education] 25 new CNES grant winners
The French space agency grant award ceremony took place on Wednesday 13 July in the amphitheatre A of the University of French Guiana.
It was with great emotion that the 25 winners (or their representatives) of the class of 2022 were presented with grants that will enable them to pursue higher education in metropolitan France or in the region.
As if passing the baton, the grant holders from previous years, some still studying and others already working, presented them with the certificate.
This year, the 25 prizes awarded include:
- 9 excellence grants (up to Bac+5);
- 13 Rectorat-French space agency study grants (up to Bac+3);
- 3 apprenticeship grants (up to Bac+3).
Rewarded for their academic achievements and their future projects, the 25 winners are engaged in short or long-term studies in fields as varied as medicine, chemistry, architecture, law, the dramatic arts, computer science or aerospace engineering, but above all in fields that will contribute to the development of French Guiana.
Since the initial scheme was introduced in 1984, almost 275 students from French Guiana have benefited from a French space agency grant.

"These grants will enable the young people of French Guiana to train in the economic sectors that our region needs. We received almost 600 applications from students with exemplary backgrounds. The choice was difficult. Congratulations to the winners for their aspirations. We wish them every success"
Marie-José Gauthier, the French space agency's Space delegate for French Guiana at Europe’s spaceport.
