On Friday 26 May, prizes were awarded for the "Spationaute, un métier de cœur" competition conducted for pupils in years 5 to 7 in French Guiana.

The competition was organised by the French Guiana "Campus des métiers et des qualifications" (MQ – Centre of Vocational Excellence) in Aeronautics and Space and the French Guiana MQ in Health, Social affairs and Welfare, in partnership with the French space agency, the Local Authorities in French Guiana, the Région Académique Guyane, the Fleur de Mots association and the Agora cinema.

The story-writing competition involved imagining the adventures of an astronaut in the form of a comic strip or illustrated text. The story had to be linked to the health, social or welfare professions, to raise awareness of these career paths among young people. The aim of this operation was also to combat illiteracy, censorship and self-censorship, and to encourage open-mindedness and imagination among the young participants.
