VV27: two conferences to find out more about satellites

Texte

As lift-off of flight VV27, scheduled to take place at Europe’s spaceport on 25 July, approaches, the public is being offered an insight into the missions carried on board the Vega-C rocket. Two free conferences open to all will be held in Cayenne and Sinnamary to showcase the MicroCarb and CO3D satellites, powerful tools for Earth observation from space.

On 25 July, Vega-C flight VV27, operated by Arianespace, will lift off from Europe’s spaceport. It will be carrying two important passengers on board: MicroCarb, the first European satellite for measuring CO₂ concentrations in the atmosphere, and CO3D, a 3D imaging constellation co-developed under a partnership between the French space agency and Airbus Defence and Space.

To share the scientific and technological challenges behind those missions with the public, two exceptional events have been scheduled for the day before the launch:

  • Cayenne – 24 July, at 6 p.m.
    Location: Café de la gare

  • Sinnamary – 25 July, at 5 p.m.
    Location: Community hall

The conferences will be given by:

Denis Jouglet, performance specialist for the MicroCarb mission (French space agency)

Lionel Perret, CO3D project leader (French space agency)

The speakers will explain how the satellites will help improve our understanding of greenhouse gases and the Earth’s surface by harnessing cutting-edge space technology.

They provide a unique opportunity to speak with space industry experts and understand why space is so important for observing and protecting our environment.
